Structure: Residential CMU Block Foundation
Contractor: Expert Basement Repair, Cleveland OH
Material Used: Fortress Carbon Kevlar Grid Straps and 5/8" re-rod shear pins.
Project Scope:
Foundation wall had previous Tie Back Repair. Because of continued bowing and load of soil, a shear slide at the second course of blocks from bottom occurred.
Solution:
Contractor utilized shear pins to secure wall to bottom courses of blocks and arrest shear slide.

5/8" X 1 ft re-rod we placed in 3" wide core openings, then grouted full with engineered grout mix also leveling bottom course of blocks to second course.

Carbon fiber strap could now be installed to address bowing of foundation wall. In this case the carbon fiber straps are applied to second course of blocks unlike normal application which is to the bottom course.
