Structure: New Construction
Contractor: Concrete & Waterproofing Solutions
Engineer: Stephen R. Temullo, PE / Greg S. Blaszick, PE
Material Used: Fortress 4 layers 300 g.s.m. carbon fiber unidirectional tow sheet with Fortress #1276 Epoxy system.
Project Scope:
Reinforcement of new construction commercial building foundation. Structural steel was deemed inadequate for compression and tension loads.
Solution:
Fortress Carbon Fiber was designed to bring bearing capacity to acceptable levels.
Observations:
Origionally, steel was considered; however, problems with connections, loss of square footage, nd appearance made carbon fiber a viable option. Tow sheet was designed because of the amount of carbon needed for the expected load. Fortress solved this problem conomically and the job was completed in 4 working days.
