Concrete construction is not always perfect. Whether it is poor initial design, the use of sub-standard materials, or some other reason, it is sometimes necessary to repair and reinforce a new concrete structure or an older structure that is now exposed to unexpected loads and conditions.

In this case, a culvert bridge was under-designed for the traffic load and a method was sought to reinforce and repair this bridge without closing the bridge or otherwise impede traffic flow.

Material Used: Fortress 300 g.s.m. Tow Sheet wet-layup
Project Scope:
Double box culvert bridge was under-designed for the load.



Solution:
Apply Fortress Carbon Fiber tow sheet wet lay-up inside the culverts of the bridge.



Observations:
The use of Fortress Carbon Fiber allowed for reinforcement without disrupting bridge traffic, where traditional methods would require closing the bridge for over a week. This job was completed in one day.
